IBDB

I can't believe that I never ran across this info-source before: the Internet Broadway Data Base. I punched in Eubie Blake as my first search and found that a lot of my favorite songs come from Shuffle Along ("Love Will Find a Way" and several more).

Thank you - I had that link at one time, but lost it. It was interesting to see that while Eubie Blake played the piano for this play, his lyricist Noble Sissle was way down on the cast list. "Memories of You" is one Blake song I'll attempt on the piano, and I remember watching Eubie Blake's hands as he played for a birthday celebration on TV - think it was his 100th.

I'd never run across it before, but I know I'll use it a lot, as I do a book called The Great Song Thesaurus (OUP). Somewhere along the way I found an ASCAP (but it may have been BMI) database that shows who first recorded a song, which is also great.
